ParticipACTION mountain bike race held in Porter Creek

U Kon Echelon Bike Club hosted the second in a series of cross-country mountain bike races June 7 near Porter Creek Secondary School in Whitehorse.

The five-race series is part of the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge taking place in June.

Designed to encourage physical activity, the challenge has a top prize of $100,000 for the community that logs the most activity through the challenge website and app.

The racing started with a shorter trail race for the youngest riders in the field, followed by a longer race for teens and adults.

Other dates are scheduled for June 14 (Mount McIntyre trails), June 21 (Gunnar Nilsson and Mickey Lammers Research Forest trails), and June 28 (Chadburn Lake trails). Details about the races can be found on the Cycling Association of Yukon website.
